Contra

This really is not breaking news. Im actually extremely late with this news. Vampire Weekend will be releasing their sophomore album January 12th, 2010. We all know who Vampire Weekend is, don't we? They're an Indie band from New York; Comprised of Ezra Koenig,Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson, and Chris Baio. Their style is described as an "Upper west side soweto" and they draw inspiration from African popular music and Western classical music. Vampire Weekend's eponymous debut album received moderate success with singles such as, A-Punk and Oxford comma. Judging by the sound of the first two singles from their upcoming album titled Contra, fans will be satisfied as they have not strayed from their signature sound or lyrics. I've posted their first two singles below, have a listen.

Ottoman - Vampire Weekend
Horchata - Vampire Weekend

Billposters

Billposters is an upcoming Electro/House producer from the UK and his music has already been featured on blogs such as Noise Porn. Billposters' style features the typical snare and bass sound, but he adds a more strung out, and jittery feel to his breakdowns. The good people of Spread The Noise have sent me some sample tracks to share. Download and Listen.

My Ten Queries of the Week

1) Why is there a Jehovah's Witness or religious zealot posted at almost every train station in queens? Are they going to brain wash the minds of every person that passes, with literature containing biblical connotations and soothing, zionist artwork?---Scary.

2) Why has there been the same bums on my corner for 15 years? What is so appealing about a street corner? No. Sweeping does not compensate for you dirty fucks sitting there everyday; Rain, shine, sleet or snow.

3) Who the fuck is impregnating the mexican women of Corona, Queens? Ew.

4) Why are "Gangsters" and 4XL T-shirts still in existence? Isn't this 2009?-Maybe they didn't get the memo. Calendars probably aren't part of thug life.

5) Why do Black people always have to glamorize things that are already cool and fuck it up?--Stop Fucking Shit Up!

6) Should it be possible that I can distinguish a Colombian by a funny hair cut and a bracelet?

7) Why are some people still dwelling on the fact that SKINNY men wear skinny jeans? In the 80s straight men dressed like women, Literally.--Get over it.

8) Hype Beasts are near extinction and annoying as ever.

9) If you have Facebook, Why do you need Twitter? Isn't It the same concept?

10) Why don't Asians understand that the yellow tape on the back door of the bus, is to open the door, not for a stop request?

"Don't blame society, blame yo' momma."

What would it take to tame a Ghetto chick?...

You know the saying, "You can take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl." Is that just an excuse to act belligerent?? Is that just an excuse to talk with a dirty mouth?? Is that just an excuse to hide your weakness ?? I can go on but I'm sure you're intelligent enough to come up with excuses.

You can't blame "the ghetto" for your upbringings. If anything, blame your PARENTS. The environment is neither to blame. I am a firm believer that the core to your behavior is due to how your parents raised you. So, you're 16 with two babies, What did your mother do? or should I say, what DIDN'T your mother do. So, you're 18 and you're locked up for possession of illegal narcotics or a weapon, What DIDN'T your mother do?...

It all comes down to this, if you have parents who could careless who you hang out with, where you are most of the time, etc., then expect the least. Girls who get pregnant at a young age, who drop out of school, who act obnoxious; always wanting to fight, your mother & father taught you wrong. And the same applies to guys.

Just another day in the office! =o)

Unlikely match-up.

Weezer and Lil' Wayne have recorded a song together? and The song was produced by Jermaine Dupri? What the Fuck happened!?
Besides the similarity in stage names, there is no reason Weezer and Lil' Wayne, should be on the same song. I listened to the song and it's atrocious. It is titled "Can't stop partying" and it sounds like the words of Jermaine Dupri sung by Rivers Cuomo. What does Weezer have to do with Patron and Goose? Nothing. Isn't alcohol, clubbing, girls and jewels part of the hip-hop life-style. But, apparently Weezer is singing about it and they threw Lil' Wayne on the track. Im not sure where music is going, but when respected bands start doing shit like this, It becomes ambiguous.

Introducing...

Hello Readers! The name's Linda Stephanie, you can catch me on Twitter (twitter.com/cherchezlamoi) and I am here to serve you in all shapes and colors.

So, I work at an Optical store and when you're working at retail you get the opportunity to come across A LOT of people that vary, being: strange, sometimes uplifting, comical, deranged, misunderstood, lonely, poor, rich, disrespectful, ect. Well, anyway, yesterday (Thursday) an elderly man came in and he said his hello and all that good stuff. I remembered him from when he came in Tuesday to get his eyes checked. Now, he had a condition in his right eye that caused his cornea (the iris of the eye) to be completely covered by this white spot, as if it almost looked like an eyeball with no color. It was just white and it was like that kind of thing where, you can't help but to stare, you know? Okay so, he walks in and we're chatting, bla bla, and he goes "hey sweety, I've been having a hard time putting this color contact in, so can you do it for me?". I will not lie, I hesitated, I panicked, I almost gagged, I was creeped out, for the simple fact that....I WAS GOING TO HAVE A CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH THE GHOSTEYE!!!!!!! I had to man up and just deal with it .........

I sat him down and just tried to not gag or even squeal and as I put the color contact on my fingertip, I opened his eye and there it was, a galaxy of wonders. His eye looked like someone injected butter into his iris and it was all sorts of colors. (Ew) ok ok, so I managed to put it in for him (no homo lol) and he was so grateful and I felt good about it because I helped someone and there's nothing greater than that feeling of "YES! I DID IT!".

In conclusion to my close encounter with the butter eye, it doesn't matter what you look like and who it is, as long as your able to reach out and lend a helping hand, it makes it worth the fear. Remember guys, check your eyes daily and NEVER!!! EVER!!! EVER!! sleep with your contacts on. Thanks for reading!!!!!

Udy?

In the midst of Thursday night homework, I received an email from Spreadthenoise.com. They're asking me to post Remix's by the, until recently, unknown, UDY. Udy is an Electro/House producer from the UK (The United Kingdom for the retards). I listened to the 3 tracks that were sent and personally, they are average. They're the likes of something you would throw in between great bangers from MSTRKRFT and The Bloody Beetroots. Im going to post them anyway and let you judge. (www.udymusic.co.uk-Official Website)
Dud Bomb(original)-Mungo Baobab
Dud Bomb(Udy Remix)-Mungo Baobab

Gimme Some Lovin'

It has been a couple weeks since I've posted some good tracks for readers to download. Therefore I've posted four. Two of them are fairly new downloads, Heads Will Roll (A-trak Remix) and Lizstomania (Alex Metric Remix). The other two are oldies that I favor. Uptight by Stevie Wonder (he was a genius in his prime) and Gimme Some Lovin' by Spencer Davis. So, Download and enjoy, I wouldn't post these songs if they weren't good.

Heads Will Roll(A-Trak Remix)-Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Lizstomania(Alex Metric remix)-Phoenix
Uptight(Everything is alright)-Stevie Wonder
Gimme Some Lovin'-Spencer Davis

WTF, Really?

Shelves must be made out of steel in the clothing stores of France. Yesterday at god damn A&F, a French senior citizen decided it would be ideal to scale several shelves of clothing to reach the very top. These shelves are fairly thick pieces of wood held up by two, small, cylindrical pieces of metal on each side. So of course, as soon as this woman distributes her weight on the first shelf, the whole thing collapses. "BANG!" Oh shit! There's a shoot out in the fitting room! But, no. I turn around to find clothes on the floor, along with the bottom shelf. I rush over to the idiotic scene, "Can I help you?" The old woman finally gets down. "XXL?" I hastily check for the size. "No XXL, sorry." She turns to what seems to be her family and they proceed to bark at each other in some french gibberish. I stood there and watched them intently, hoping they would exit at any moment. The moment finally came. A younger woman from the group turned as they marched away, "Merci Beaucoup." I smile, then immediately turn around in-order to roll my eyes and attend to the mess on the floor. These foreigners are out of control. Maybe it's the pounding music or the constant aroma of "Fierce" cologne being pumped through the ventilation. They're like clamorous baboons trying to find shelter. A&F doesn't pay me enough.

You dirty SWINE

Where the fuck have I been? Its been almost 2 weeks without a new post. Well, I've been extremely busy. I work at the god forsaken Abercrombie and Fitch and I'm also going to school. I haven't been rigorously searching for new, exciting, music to post. Or looking for a topic interesting enough to post.

Last night was cool. A couple of friends and I, ventured out to brooklyn to see my boy Arv perform with his band. We were Beyond late, so we caught the last 5 minutes of his set. I enjoyed the little time we spent there, mostly because I met a really cute girl. But, Enough about me. During the past week, I became aware, the Swine flu shot is MANDATORY in the United States. When has a Inoculation ever been mandatory nationwide? besides for the few shots that are required when entering school. The first word that comes to my mind is, Conspiracy. I find it hard to trust our government in terms of this subject. There must be ulterior motives. At this Point there is no definitive answer, so we just have to sit and wait until 2/3 of humans become zombies. WE'LL BE FIGHTING FOR OUR LIVES!

Fear and Loathing

I've seen the movie at least four times. But now I'm finally getting to read the book, thanks to my friend Arv. Hunter S. Thompson's account of his drug-fueled quest to find the american dream, in Las Vegas. It's just so much more vivid in words. If you haven't seen the movie or read the book, do so. Hopefully I'll finish it in a couple of days.
